Hi Barry
After a 3-hour "special" (just our "rebellious" grade level) training with a Reading Street specialist (with administration nodding and enthusiastically taking copious notes), I am in a state of complete depression. I would love to have you start a separate thread for subversive ideas/strategies, ways to cope, etc. with scripted reading programs. (If there was an opening, I'd transfer to the Middle School! That's a big step from 2nd grade!)

I have enjoyed your fun lesson ideas in Why We Must Run With Scissors for years. (There are Post-its sticking from almost every page!) Your persuasive writing activities are my students' favorite because of the laughter they create. Thank you for helping to enhance my work with high school English students through engaging lesson ideas!
I look forward to being an active member of the Discover Writing community.
This is delightful! I feel in love with you and your work when you gave a workshop in San Antonio 8 or 9 years ago. I love using your revision strategies in class.

It is my lucky day. I look forward to learning from each other and sharing great ideas. Great videos. I can't seem to find anything on conclusions. We are doing better with leads but struggle with conclusions. Help!
We are starting to dance, Barry. I was hoping you would move that tolkien video to my blog. Also, I think i a ready to post my little movie on the main page. probably tomorrow. Is that ok?
Thanks for the welcome. I can't wait to start checking out the site! I saw a little snippet about leads, I can't wait to dive in. I'm always talking to my kids about leads!
Thank you for such a warm welcome. I searched through Ning to find networks about writing and thankfully, I found Discover Writing. Such a great network!
Won't be long and I'll have the entire Discover Writing library. I already have 6 of the ones listed in the "Books" section. I reeeeaally want Carol Out of the Box. I am glad you have encouraged her to start a kinesthetic learning group right here on the Ning. Thank you again for all you do.
Yes, Oh Great Leader, I will bring some "comrades" if I can entice them away from their labor camps. I hope that you have had a good year. See you soon.

We know it's there, but how do we use it, teach it, assess it, enjoy it? Let's have an open forum to talk about expereiences, lessons, activities, research; more importantly, how do you make the connection in your life?
Based on Gretchen Bernabei's photo collection, this group is for lovers of photo prompts and is a great place to post your pictures and prompt ideas for use in the classroom.

You would have to show your Jai Ho dance moves and awesome writing ideas...and we all know how shy you are.
