A Place to Share for Writers and Teachers
And so it begins, another exciting new school year. Friday of last week officially marked the end of summer for me as I sat through an informative training for Read 180 (if you're not sure what that is, look here: http://teacher.scholastic.com/products/read180/ ). In addition to starting the school year, my family and I are moving. Our house is littered with landmarks that one can expect with a big move, The Leaning Tower of Cardboard Boxes (which I have knocked over and rebuilt too many times to count), Miscellaneous Mountain (you know, the boxes of stuff that can't be categorized), and let's not forget the Awfully Heavy Tower and the Classifer Crate Building (boxes that still need to be labeled). I read once that moving is the second most stressful experience for a family, second only to death. Moving is more stressful than divorce, it said.
The good news is I hav returned to Capital High School. I love this place. It was great walking into the building and seeing some of my colleagues again. I know this will be a great year. I have a new class on my list (11th grade Honors) and I am ready to go... well, not entirely... still need to get my room ready.
Hope everyone has a good first week (if you are just beginning) and I look forward to sharing more this school year.
