I would like to explore movement of all kinds in the classroom. From walk-abouts to pantomime. I've been using different variations on walk-abouts to give first grade students a chance to recharge.
Walk-About 1/ The Gallery Walk
After we write, draw, or respond I ask the kids to walk around like an Art Gallery and look at others work. Then we wrap up with a discussion of what we saw.
Walk-About 2/ Find something xxxx?
You can fill in the blank. I've used this walk-about just to get everyone moving. Don't you hate it when they fall asleep:-)

Thank you so much, Carol, for your ideas. I am planning to make small signs out of construction paper with each necessary part on the source cards and have students stand at the front of the room, holding the signs in the order they should be on the source card. Since there are several different source types (books, magazines, Internet, etc.) this should be a lot of fun.

Again, thank you.

Do you know of any kinesthetic ways to teach MLA citations or making source cards? LOL. Like I said, some topics are just difficult to make fun.

Where do you get your great ideas? I have searched for ideas to make my lessons more kinesthetic, and English is hard, sometimes.

Carol, you are so amazing. I have been trying to save the money to purchase Carol Out of the Box, but so far no luck. I am a middle school English teacher and my students love physical activity and hands-on lessons. You are my guru. Teach me. :-)

Hey Angel,

How's about starting a Kinesthetic learning lesson group. I will run your video on the front page and refer them to the group.

To start a group is easy. On main page see the group box. Click on. add group and you are off. Give it a name and image and a brief description. Writing Lessons for those who can't sit still...

love,
b
