"I loved the cave scene with the saxaphone. I think this was an early style of "Slam Poetry". It was cool, fun, and very interesting. I'll be back...I need to find a cave, and a saxaphone."

"Yes that is great. "O Captain my captain!" There are so many great scenes. I also like Mr. Keating's lesson about conformity when he has the boys marching outside. And sure enough, the boys all end up marching at the same pace.…"

Dead Poet's Society

This is one of my all time favorites. In high school, I remember going to see it at the movies. I love Robin Williams in it! He is the gifted teacher that I wish I could be. This movie has so many uses. I have used it in conjunction with poetry study, as character comparisons when reading A Separate Peace and The Catcher in the Rye, and when teaching Emerson and Thoreau.

Movies Worth Remembering

Most movies these days are not worth remembering. They seek only to entertain, not inform or transform our way of thinking. Here is a place to share movies that, like great books, have changed us as people. and as writers. Post YouTube clips.See More

Thank you, Adrienne, for your kind comments about my children. I'm a proud papa, that's for sure. A few weeks ago, I brought my oldest daughter to work with me for Bring Your Daughter to Work Day. She was so quiet and so well-behaved. She even did school work while she was here. It was the first day in a long time that I felt completely happy at work. The next day, I entered the school building, walked into my classroom, saw that she had left her jacket behind, and I started to cry. I missed her so much. I'm either emotionally unstable or I just really love my kids. Maybe both...
