Tao is a very powerful word with enormous inner meaning.

Tao, "The way" meaning the the life forces behind everything. All things have purpose, all things have a place within the great and total picture of Nature. To be able to grasp the true Tao of anything you must understand all there is to know about what you are trying to grasp.

I am a Martial Artist and the Sensei of HHK生活方

(Hammer Hand Karate Lifestyle)

I have been involved with the Martial Arts since I was 13 years old and had the amazing opportunity to study under Sensei Lee Chung in Taiwan in the 1960's. I hold a 3rd Dan (3rd Degree Black Belt) in Kenpo and am the creater of HHK生活方 (Hammer Hand Karate Lifestyle). This style represents the Philosphy of life through the Martial Arts. The Martial Arts are not about fighting, as most everyone thinks, the Martial Arts are about living and ones awareness and understanding of their part within the Nature of our surroundings. More understanding can be had by reading my Post, Earth, Wind, Fire and Water.

HHK生活方式 is the "TAO" of life.

Thank you for allowing me to join with you in your, "Tao of writing".

Jason,
I totally understand where you are coming from.

Joy,

I have actually tossed around the idea of writing a book about Taoism and teaching, but I don't know enough about Taoism to do that yet with any sort of reliable confidence. I could write a book about How Teaching Has Helped Me Become a Better Christian.

Hi guys! I've been totally swamped this year, despite having nearly half the number of students as last year!

One comment before digging in to what you have written (which I'm dying to read, btw). I read the book, The Tao of Pooh several years ago. Although I think it was written/taken lightly, it certainly got me thinking about life and my outlook on difficult situations. This was about the time I'd returned to college, and it certainly shaped my pedagogical thinking.

Tao of Writing? Sure. Processing the idea, Tao of Teaching keeps ringing in my mind. Hmmm. . . Tao of Teaching? Absolutely! Now there's a title worthy of exploration. Thanks for kick-starting the engine in my brain.

Thanks, Barry. I'll have the next activity up soon, also.

I think it's crunch time for a lot of teachers right now. I will broadcast this to the Ning soon.

So far, I've got a few bites but no takers. Perseverance... how I long for thee...
