Stand By Me

I was a child of the 80s, so most of my favorites are from that decade. Stand By Me has always been my favorite movie of all time. A lot of coming-of-age movies came out in the 80s, but this one tops the list for me. From the first time I saw this movie, I wanted friends like Gordie's, and I found them later in life, friends I could cry around, friends I could tell my secrets to. Great stuff.

Yep, I did know. I've read it twice, and I read the first few paragraphs to a high school English class a few years ago. Love that story.

There's a line in the story (and the movie) that I wish I could quote for you. It's something about how your friends at age 12 are the closest friends you'll ever have -- and boy howdy is it true of most men. As adults, we just don't do the "best friends" thing as well as women do, especially after we're married.

This scene reminds me of at least 5 incidents in my childhood with my boyhood friends. It seemed like someone was always chasing us. I was raise to be a fugitive and now I am a consultant. hmmmm.

I love this movie also. It's rich with so many layers of stories. It's a must see and a classic. I agree!
