This map is amazing and I'd love to really study it, but even if I zoomed in as much as I could I couldn't read the names of the bands. :)

Jack Schofield tweeted a photo from flickr of rock n roll as a metro map. This is actually pretty revealing. I never thought of Death Cab for Cutie as a punk band, but I guess I can see the influence.

Would love to hear from Michelle about what songs her teaching partner uses to teach literary elements.

This song is haunting me. If you have time look up the process on Google fro Dan Wilson.

I imagine you would use songs that are very much like literature. You could use ballads that tell a story or else use songs with choruses to show how you can repeat a feature. Or you could even use classical music and show how they have a language too. Show the different parts of a symphony and how the theme is introduced first and then there are variations on it. You can liken the themes to characters and show how the themes interact as characters interact in a story.

Just a few thoughts off the top of my head.:)
